anyway, I took to whiling away my youthful hours with my nose stuck in a book and, with a sketchbook in hand, like many kids, I
made up imaginary worlds and populated them with heroes and heroines and wizards and witches etcetcetc.
As I got older, nothing changed. I'm now 37 years old and I'm still up to the same things.
But age has finally caught up with me... I've got little wrinkles appearing in the corners of my eyes, I'm mortgaged, married.... and a proud Daddy.
MY ART...
What's there to say? As you can see, I'm inspired by just about anything, so long as it catches my eye. I owe Mother Nature big time. Technically,I have no set medium- anything from digital to photography, to graphite, oils, watercolours, acrylics, pen and ink... they all do a job and I find that, although I'll probably never master any one of them, at least i never go bored and, more importantly, I never stop learning- that's the key-you see.
What inspires me the most nowadays is my son. It may sound like a cliche, but his Daddy has had a surge of love, like I've never felt before, all protective, warm, proud and cuddly, intense and fun. I was a Daddy at 36- a late bloomer.
MY HEROES...
Too many to mention... There are so many great artists out there, but the ones that stand out and come readily to mind are: The great Pre-Raphaelite painter John Waterhouse (isn't he EVERYONE's fave?), Alan Lee, Mike Kaluta, Charles Vess, so may others...
MORE STUFF...
Along with my art, I am very interested in Astrology (not the newspaper horoscope sort...), Numerology and Dream interpretation. As I look back over the years, i've always been interested in what makes people tick and I've managed to find many answers through the so-called 'psychic arts'. You get to meet lots of interesting people when you are slightly 'wierd'- Great eh?
JUST BRIEFLY...
I'm also a musician. I play guitar. I don't have the technical know-how to add music to this site, I would if I could, but some of my twangings can be heard on my good friend Pete's site at:
www.peterfitz.com
or look up Kathartic on 'myspace'- we seem to be pretty popular don't we?
